That's heartwarming enough, but then Amber turns Sofia down of her own accord, having a change of heart at the last minute. After all, to Sofia, Amber is more important than her promise to her father never to take off the amulet. In "Princess Butterfly", Amber is about to pull a Karma Houdini: after an episode of trying to take Sofia's amulet, Sofia finally just offers the amulet so Amber can fix her magical butterfly costume without having to admit to the fairies she cheated to win the earlier costume contest.Predictable, yes, but heartwarming? Definitely.

It's possible that Cedric was just keeping up appearances, but it's sweet to think that even with his grievances towards Roland and the royal family, he never questioned Sofia's place in it (keeping in mind, it probably hasn't even been a month since Sofia was crowned princess).Knowing that he could do it is exactly why she pulled off her Batman Gambit later. When Sofia first turns herself into a lizard by accident, Cedric doesn't even think for a second of using the opportunity to steal the Amulet from her, instead reassuring her that she'll be fine before casting the spell to return her to normal.It's the happiest we've ever seen him, outside of his scheming and sneaking, and it's so very sweet. Cedric's big, goofy smile just clinches it.Heck, almost all of Cedric and Sofia's interactions in that episode could count. Not to mention the episode's epilogue.The ending of "Cedric's Apprentice": Cedric has the chance to use his invisibility potion to steal Sofia's amulet, but because she helped him prove what a good sorcerer he is, he decides against it.James is rather unhappy that his baby sister took the blame for him breaking a castle rule and breaking the window, and at the circus, he tells his parents that it was he who broke the window, not Sofia.Baileywick having tea with Sofia after she's grounded for bailing James out of trouble near the end of "A Royal Mess".Keep in mind that this is only the first episode aired after Once Upon a Princess, and Amber has already shown how she cares about Sofia-not only does she take it poorly when Hugo makes Sofia fall off Minimus, but at the end, she's unimpressed with the jersey Sofia was given for winning and insists she needs a real prize.and the prize Amber gives Sofia is her derby tiara.James: You can make fun of me all you want, Hugo, but not my sister!
